School Counselor Corner
Mrs. Heather R. Williams
This is Mrs. Williams fifth year as a school counselor. She has been in education for 10 years. She has been a Special Education teacher, taught third, fourth, and fifth grades with a specialization in Language Arts. Her duties have included 504 coordinator, testing coordinator, and ARD facilitator.
Her previous professional experience is in Corrections, where she was a probation officer for 15 years. Five of those years, she was Chief of Juvenile Probation, when she realized she could be more effective in assisting youth within the educational system.
Her Bachelor's degree in Sociology and Psychology were received at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi. She returned to complete her Master's Degree in Educational Counseling sheil working as a probation officer. Her Counseling Certification was obtained through Wayland Baptist University in San Antonio, Texas.
Mrs. Williams is a proud mother of one son, a bonus. mom of 4 girls and another son. She and her husband share 7 grandchildren. Her hobbies are family, church activities, shopping at the Farmer's Market and working on puzzles in her spare time.
She believes that a student's character is formed during the elementary years, and is aware that this generation is much different than the students at the onset of her educational career. With the help, guidance and care of all who work in education, children have the opportunity to bloom regardless of the circumstances they experience. Student can identify their strengths and build upon them while gaining an understanding of not only the academics, but the world we share. Mrs. Williams is dedicated to help all children, not only the scholars at PCE. She believes that with the love of caring, invested adults at school and at home, all students will be able to grow socially, academically, emotionally and will become well-rounded, successful, happy adults.
